I have a picture ready and waiting for the futuristic Chicago, but you guys are free to make up technology to suit your scenes as you see fit. Like in my writing sample, I described a railway system in which cars use to get around as opposed to traditional roads because I thought it was more interesting than flying cars and ships. I'll put a section in the OP explaining the basics of the setting, but you guys are free to come up with future tech in your scenes so long as it has nothing to do with weapons of any kind. In this future, advanced technology has not advanced the technological proficiency of weaponry. For weapons, we're still 21st century - guns with firing pins, hammers, slides, and the ammunition available in real life. There are plot reasons for this and I know it's not realistic of a world that would have progressed so far. Other than that though, insert future tech into the scenes you write as you wish.
