I apologize. That was partially playful and partially pure frustration talking. I'm getting a bit sensitive with people ignoring what I say and pretending they understand the words I select or singling me out as a freak for using vocabulary that should be common to those of the seventh grade level. (Not really meaning to be insulting... charlatan really is about that grade level, give or take a year) Yesterday, during my lunch break I used the word ameliorate in a sentence and when asked, the person was insulted because I offered up mitigate and dilute as synonyms. Neither of which he knew. He thought I was actively trying to make him look stupid and I thought he was going to rip into me. By that point, using the term "watered down" really didn't help any. I just get so bloody tired at being the bad guy simply because I enjoy writing.
