'He sounds calmer now. That's good. It's so disheartening to see him so upset all the time without using it effectively' His danging hand curls a bit as he listens, his fingers twiddling with the blanket. He listens intently, not wanting to interrupt him even on accident. 'He has a very lovely voice. . .And those eyes. . .I wonder if he has a lover. I can't see one as pretty as him being without at least one or two partners. Even if he is leading a rebellion, everyone has time for a tryst or two, right?' As the male glares him down Alexi thinks over what he says and tries to formulate a proper response when Erik speaks up again. 'Oh, he caught on to that did he? Ah, well, it's not like he can guess much from that. The beauty of the English language: Every sentence can be taken several different ways' His hand releases the blanket and snakes back up to cross over the other, both of them slipping beneath his head so he can rest his chin on them. Licking his lips he smiles again, finally deciding on what to say. “Whoever said that your enslavement had anything to do with freeing all the other non-human slaves?” He raises an eyebrow in sarcastic question and chuckles. Then after a second his face slips into a very serious expression. His eyes flash as he stares directly at the vampire. “Whether my plan with you works or not, the non-humans will be freed without fail. There is no doubt in that, believe me.” He immediately waves his hand, rolling his head to the side. “Or don't, your choice.” Keeping his eyes turned away he murmurs softly, “As for my not seeing the end, can you really see all this ending in my lifetime. It takes an age for a tree to bare the ripest fruit, and even after my plan succeeds, the actual end of such things is so far in the future I shudder to think of the world until then.” Chewing on his lower lip carefully Alexi seems to curl into himself, his legs sliding across the soft bed coverings until he rolls on to his side, one arm bent beneath his head. The fingers of his arm pillow stretch out to stroke through his hair as he begins talking softly, and if it wasn't for the occasional glance towards Erik one would think he's talking to himself. “No one really knows just how old you are, so I'm wondering if you know about the first great slavery. Much like today, the slaves were no more than property, worked to the bone, unforgiven even the smallest trespasses. However unlike today, the slave were humans of course.” He lets out a long breath, his eyes going very far away. “I am a man of history, so I know all about it. We didn't even know your kind really existed back then. It was such common place to have slaves, and with no rules to protect them, the sight of them dead in the streets wasn't all that uncommon either. When I was reading about it, I got rather ill the first time. Like whenever I saw my father whipping a slave. My stomach just couldn't handle it.” Arching his neck he looks up at the bound male with a sad smile. “But you know what? I think the most common link between this slavery, and the one from back then, is something that has always been properly recorded in history, even if no one noticed it.” Rolling back to his stomach Alexi's hand continues to run through his hair, while the other comes up to rest on the arm attached to it just above the elbow. “In every country, those who were enslaved were, for the most part, those that were different from the majority. Whether it be by religion, skin color, birth station, or even political ideals. Humans as a people fear what is different, and by enslaving it, they feel safer.” His face remains fairly neutral as he continues. “I think it is by far one of the stupidest traits we as a race have, but it's a fact none the less.” His face converts to a light smile. “Again, I would not presume to tell you what to think, but it would be nice if you could take something from this little history lesson. I personally love things that are different. I can go anywhere to see all the new and shiny stuff being released every day by big companies, but this house is like my own little museum of oddities not found anywhere else in the world anymore, save perhaps a few remote places here or there.” His fingers continue to work his locks as he stares patiently at the soon-to-be-slave chained to his wall.
