|Ship Name: Tor-Selim - Hiigaran Carrier |Universe of Origin: Homeworld |Method of Transfer While running scans on the Hyperspace Gate that Kira obsesses over, the Gate mysteriously activated and pulled the Tor-Selim in. During the voyage, the unusual type of Quantum waveform the gate employed caused significant damage to the Hyperspace Wake Jump module, as well as damaging the Frigate and Corvette manufacturing facilities - both the exterior modules and the Frigate berths exposed bays. A number of crew were injured or killed by Quantum anomalies forming in the fore section of the ship, where the ships bow intersected another peak in the wave. Throughout his life he has displayed the Manaani drive to see new sights and experience new things, learning to fly ships even as he learned to walk. The first half of his career was spent aboard a series of private exploration ships among crews of mostly either Manaani or Somtaaw origin. He climbed the ranks while here, learning to fly a wide variety of Hiigaran ships as he did so, before eventually deciding that this life was too safe for him. He practically looked forward to the times when his ship would come under attack by various pirates, Turanics or Taiidan Imperialists for the thrill of battle and the glorious sights of ships weaving complex and deadly patterns in battle. He eventually decided to enlist in the Hiigaran defence force as an officer, that he might direct the battles and create new, more complex, more amazing formations. His time training on Hiigara represents the longest single time he has ever been planetside at once, and once again, he quickly climbed the ranks. He served onboard Hiigaran carriers, battlecruisers and even a Shipyard during peacetime, fending off all manner of lesser threats to the Hiigaran space lanes. As time went on though, this particular fascination died down, and he began to return more towards a desire for exploration. This time more as a scout or on an expedition fleet to truly push the borders of space. At the same time he was promoted to captain, to command his own ship for a change. He was given command of a destroyer in a small exploration flotilla which departed for the edge of Hiigaran space, right before the Vaygr war began. Because of travel times and logistics, Saalen only arrived back at Hiigara in time for the final few battles of the war, and the second battle he was in saw his ship crippled entirely, meaning he missed almost all of the war. After the war, an aging Saalen was assigned command of the carrier Tor-Selim, a vessel whose name some believed to be cursed. Unfazed, Saalen welcomed the larger command, enjoying the role that had been chosen for the ship - exploring and charting a number of the newly active hyperspace gates that extended from the Eye of Aarran. He was the one to discover the inactive gate that Kira S’jet was later to obsess over. Saalen Manaan has lost little of his typically Manaani enthusiasm for new things, though he has certainly lost his taste for combat over the years. He prefers to find non-violent methods for resolving disputes, but if the dispute breaks down to violence he will not shy away, making use of the vast experience and training he has for such matters. Outside of command he is good natured and friendly, often with a youthful exuberance one would not expect from one of his age, and rarely bothers to stand on formality.

+Job: Chief Science Officer +Description: Born into a family of Scientists in a Kiith dedicated to Science, Kira’s path in life was set from the very first moment. Her entire early life was focused on education and preparation to the exclusion of all else, her dream always being to match the godlike reputation of Karan S’jet. She always proved a quick learner and in near record time she was studying among the ranks of S’jet scientists on the leading edge of Hiigaran technology. Early in her budding career she chose to specialise in Hyperspace physics, though as any good S’jet she made sure not to narrow her scientific knowledge overmuch. She made a number of discoveries that would help to increase the efficiency of wake jumping technology soon after she specialised in her field, but her impatience with people and obsessive tendencies born of blind focus on Science to the exclusion of all else led to a reputation that would not be what it could. When the Vaygr war arrived, she was very nearly chosen for the research division that would board the Pride of Hiigara, the position stolen from her at the last minute by a scientist from Kiith Kaalel. Thanks to that, Kiith Kaalel has earned her eternal enmity. After the war and the discovery of vast amounts of progenitor technology, including the Eye of Aarran, Kira had a new guiding light for her studies and lifes work. Hyperspace gates became an obsession of hers, and she quickly became one of Hiigara’s foremost experts on the subject. In particular, once the Tor Selim discovered a mysteriously non-functional Hyperspace gate on the very edge of the network, she began to obsess. She has devoted the past three years to its study, and the current expedition aboard the Tor-Selim is her latest attempt to divine its purpose. Kira S’jet is a genius, but unfortunately that genius is marred by her obsessive personality. She is devoted to Science in a cold manner, some might even call her unfeeling, though this is not true. She expects much of her peers, and when they cannot keep up with her she often gets angry with them, which has led to her functioning almost entirely without permanent assistants. Outside of her Science, she has almost no life to speak of, caring little for interaction with people and finding only a token relaxation from music and literature. She has a particular dislike for religion, viewing it as baseless superstition from people who know nothing better. To her, Karan S’jet is simply a remarkable woman, and Sajuuk is just an ancient starship.

+Job: First Officer/Diplomat +Description: Kiith Manaan by Marriage, Ariel was born into Kiith Nabaal on Hiigara. Even from a very young age, it was clear that she was not cut out for either the political or engineering aspects championed by Kiith Nabaal, always longing to leave Hiigara to travel amongst the stars. As soon as she was able, she enlisted in a Sobani military academy, endorsed and funded by her wealthy parents, most likely in the hopes that a higher education among the Sobani would make her realise what she already had on Hiigara. This ploy backfired entirely, however, when Ariel met and quickly fell in love with a Manaani man also training at the academy. It was not long before Ariel married the Manaani man, choosing to enter his Kiith instead of retaining close ties to Nabaal. She graduated quickly from the Sobani academy, not truly willing to climb military ranks without trying out a few more things, despite her high marks and clear skill in various forms of combat. She had enrolled in a Manaan run diplomatic university only months before the Vaygr war began. Her husband was killed early in the war, and in memory of him she chose to leave the school and fight for Hiigara, though there was more than a little vengeance in her actions. With the bloody battles and high rate of attrition in the Vaygr war, she was given ample chance to rise through the ranks, ending the war as the commander of a frigate squadron on the front lines of the final battle. She witnessed Sajuuk’s power first hand, and her ship was among those intercepting the atmospheric deprivation weapons before they could reach Hiigara. Once the Vaygr were defeated, she once again returned to Hiigara to learn the art of diplomacy, though with a degree of newfound purpose - to protect Hiigara from any more attacks like what the Vaygr achieved by ensuring the Hiigarans made no more enemies in their travels. She was head-hunted by Kira S’jet for the Tor-Selim for her consistent high achieving in the various education centers she had been to and for her multiple specialities. Like many Manaani, she shares a love of the unknown and of new experiences. She prefers to lead from the front in all things, and still enjoys personally leading fighter groups. Though some would say she recovered remarkably well from her husbands death, she nonetheless tends to hold people at arms reach rather than get close to them. She also tends to take more risks when it comes to her own safety since the event.

+Job: Head of Security +Description: Jakuur Soban is the senior member of Kiith Soban onboard the ship and, as with the majority of the crew, was born on Hiigara. Like all Sobani, Jakuur was not born into the Kiith, but rather became Sobanii of his own will. Not even his fellows know to which Kiith he originally belonged, only that he ‘took the red’ and became Soban very early in his life, and has remained ever since. Like many modern Hiigarans, he fought in the recent Vaygr wars, though unlike them, he was in the thick of the fighting the entire time, serving on front line units, usually in marine frigates but sometimes as part of the defensive forces on capital ships. He was called upon to fight in nearly every engagement his ship was in, and with the high attrition rate of Marine Frigates against the Vaygr it is a miracle he survived every battle. After the Vaygr defeat, he briefly took up a teaching role in one of the many Sobanii military academies on Hiigara, but found his role their to be far too sedentary for his tastes. When he heard that Kira S’jet’s expedition was looking for a marine task-force, he leapt at the opportunity, both to return to the military lifestyle and to be in command of a detachment not likely to encounter any major fighting. While he has always believed wholeheartedly in the ideals of Kiith Soban, Jakuur’s unlikely survival of the Vaygr wars many battles has led him to also strongly believe in Sajuuk. While certainly not a Zealot, he has become a deeply religious man , believing that all that happens to him and everyone else is the will of Sajuuk - He Whose Hand Shapes What Is. Combined with a certain jaded streak characteristic of an older veteran, he is almost impervious to surprise, and few things truly scare him.
