The elves lived on paradise in the middle of the ocean, isolated from the rest of the world, until one day a band of Drow (Black Elves) appeared from some far away land. They started to go to each community of elves on the island one by one, promising the reveal great knowledge that Chammaidon had from them. Naturally, the elves were enticed by this offer of secret knowledge and therefore enquired about this knowledge. Once they learned this knowledge, the eyes of these elves were opened, discovering that their society was worse than barbarian ones because they had been running around like animals. Chammaidon saw what the Drow were doing and quickly his four guardians to the last four unaffected clans of the elves. The guardians warned these elves not to admit the Drow into their community. Furthermore, they were told that they needed to call a council of the elves so that they might determine the location of their new homeland. Since Chammaidon knew that these two groups of elves could not peacefully coexist (with the latter group probably being wiped out in the aftermath), he decided to sink the whole island into the ocean. At the council meeting, the afflicted and unafflicted elves could not decide on a plan of action, resulting in them parting ways. The Unafflicted elves who still believed in Chammaidon sailed westward toward land which Chammaidon promised to them. The other elves, who believed that Chammaidon had betrayed them because he withheld knowledge from them, sailed eastward. Once the Ailboi arrived at their new homeland, Chammaidon revealed to them his secret knowledge. However, unlike their other kin, the Ailboi saw the beauty in both themselves and in the nature all around them. Furthermore, Chammaidon revealed how the Ailboi soul is eternal. Even when an Ailbos would die, his or her spirit would live on and would return to another body. Therefore, the Ailboi called themselves Leukedhil (Light Elves) because even if their bodies would be destroyed, their spirit would continue to live on. The Ailboi use a candle metaphor to describe this phenomenon. Their souls would be like a burning candle, even after death. However, for other races, including other elves, once an individual from that race dies, their soul extinguishes with their body, like when one blows out a candle. This is why they call the other elven races Melanedhil (Dark Elves), since their souls will eventually be extinguished.
