Cyborg He has no vessels for blood to run through, and has no heart to stop. Leaving just his brain and spinal cord intact, the rest of his body is made of intricate machinery running primarily on liquid mana to function. The intake of normal food is impossible for him, due to a lack of a digestive system, and he requires a daily injection of nutrients into his neck to keep his brain and spinal cord alive. Synthetic skin and a thin layer of reinforced metal directly beneath it protects his inner parts, and also keeps water and most foreign matter out of his body. Countless magic runes are etched into the metal parts inside of him to allow movement and other more complicated feats. The ‘mask’ he wears is removable, but functions as an extended part of his mechanical body. Due to the amount of machinery and space required for the spinal cord, it had been impossible to install some sort of vocal system close enough for sound to travel through his mouth (he refused to have his voice project from any other region). Using residual gaseous mana created from the liquid mana running in his body, the mask interprets the movements of Torvald’s mouth and positioning of his head to give him a ‘voice’. With the mask, he is fully capable of speaking fluently with a range of dynamics, but would be unable to mimic any unusual sounds or accents from another region. Without the mask, he is completely mute. Home Sphere: Bulwark/Sabaton (See background below.) Background: Born and raised in Bulwark, Torvald was a soldier serving in the military of the Bulwark Empire. Holding great pride in his homeland and work, he strived to move up quickly in the ranks and often volunteered to participate in highly dangerous missions to gain recognition. Ironically enough, he experienced his first near-death experience during a training session instead of out in the field. During combat training, his sparring partner made a mistake in casting a fire spell and accidentally set off an explosion that left both of them in critical condition. The one that caused the incident was discharged upon recovery, but Torvald returned a few months later with a mechanical right arm and leg to replace the ones he had lost. His sight in his right eye had also been damaged, however, he did not have this treated due to limited finances. Unfortunately, no matter how good of a soldier he was, he was still too naïve to be a leader. During a routine patrol on one of the more distant Spheres owned by the Bulwark Empire, an unexpected situation arose. An enemy soldier came close to their camp with a hostage in hand, demanding the soldiers to surrender the base. Seeing only the one enemy, Torvald did not call for backup and tried to lead a rescue mission on his own. His arrogance caused the death and injury of many subordinates as well as himself. Dismissed with disgrace and forcibly deported from Bulwark, he was left on Sabaton to live out the remainder of his days. Refusing to give up on himself, he took on whatever job he could from the residents there to keep himself alive and earn money. Little by little, he replaced more of his body for cold, mechanical parts until nothing remained of his original self, save for his brain and spinal cord. Some say it was due to his desire for greater power that led him to undergo such drastic surgeries, but others say it was because he was hoping to be able to forget the pain of the past and leave his old self behind. Working primary as a mercenary-for-hire, he keeps an eye on the bounties and list of notorious criminals wanted by the Bulwark Empire. He hopes that one day he will be able to return back to Bulwark and re-enlist in the military. Believing blindly that catching enough of these criminals will help him gain forgiveness from the military, he does whatever he can to stay alive long and hunt down enemies of the empire. Skills/Abilities/Powers: - Mechanical body: Made of reinforced metal and runes, his body is extremely difficult to damage past the soft synthetic skin. He lacks any sensors for pain and would be able to keep fighting as long as he has even a single limb left to fight with. He also much stronger than the average mortal and could easily shatter bone with his fists or kick. - Magic: He is able to use very simple magic to call forth electricity. Unfortunately Torvald is not very skilled with magic and would only be able to temporarily stun an opponent with his spells. - Combat: His days in the military and experiences gained from various jobs undertaken after his dismissal has made him very strong in hand-to-hand combat. He is very confident in his abilities at close-quarters, but is able to do very little with large ranges. Equipment: - Case: He keeps a large grey case filled with replacement parts, liquid mana, and syringes containing nutrient supplements. - Metal Stave: Acts as a heavy blunt weapon, and to facilitate his electrical spells.

Theme Song:

Other: He has enough knowledge for general maintenance and simple repairs of his body, but any major damage is beyond his capabilities. ------------ RP: None Disclaimer: This was a rejected application to the RP Aurora, so not all of these ideas are my own.
