The kido corps and Squad 5 are one thing as decided recently

We were going to keep them separate but now decided not to just because it makes life a little easier and plus this way more people will actually be apart of the Kido corps rather than just...you..so yeah really it's for the best. 

As well the previous canon Captain (Aizen) was the Captain of Squad 5 who were also put in charge of the kido corps because...

[hider=Spoiler]The previous Captain tried to save his Lieutenant of the Kido corps who turned Vizard and then they both got exiled from the Soul Society meaning someone had to take the Kido corps position, bring in Aizen an insanely proficient kido user who used a Bakudo 81 to stop a Hado 88 from a Kido corps Captain and you have yourself as not only Captain of the 5th division but the Kido corps. Now it's just remained a thing otherwise you are literally asking to isolate your character from everyone else. If you become Captain and want to remove the Kido corps from Squad 5 and go be it's Captain then very well. [/hider]
