There isn't much to say about the trio, except that they're the 'Day' 'Sun' and 'Night' personified as three riders (possibly arrant knights). They were just background characters, so they were never fleshed out. Should I tie them to other fairytale?

I didn't! Sure, I knew about Sleeping Beauty being [s]finger popped[/s] by her (sometimes) father-husband, then waking up to find that she had twins with him after a year under the spell, but not the cannibalism of Red Riding hood!
