If she had just said that he was the one who saved Meria in the past from her point of view, Nathan would have been able to accept that. While he hadn't believed that time travel was possible before, he did know an author of science fiction novels, who had a love of time travel. Through him, Nathan soon found himself a theoretical expert on the subject, so he understood what a stable time loop was. This however, was something else; he would become a father. The very idea of having children felt so alien to him, it was an idea that had never even occurred to him, as he didn't want to continue his bloodline. Not only that, but she said that her mother was Meria...Meria! The princess! There was no way that someone like her would marry someone like him, he was a nobody. The very idea that his future self would be careless enough to sire children, to bring them into this world with his cursed blood terrified him. Until he recalled something else that she said... This girl claimed that she was a descendant of two royal families. Two, not one. There was noway that Nathan could have any sort of royal blood in him, which could only mean one thing; she wasn't his biological daughter. Meria obviously married her princes charming and lived happily ever after with him. Or maybe not quite, since he seemed to be her father figure. It was hard to tell without asking more questions that he doubted that she would answer. Maybe it was just wishful thinking on his part (one such thought that made him doubt this was that he couldn't think of a reason why a child that wasn't his would inherit his fathers swords), but it helped him calm down immensely. "I see...this is all starting to make sense. I think I understand why you came to me" it was because he was expendable, because the future would be fine without him. He no longer had any doubt that she really did come from the future, the ring convinced him. While he didn't think it would be impossible to make a fake of Meria's sword, he was the only person alive who knew both what the ring looked like, and that it had any sort of significance. As crazy as it sounded; the most logical explanation was that she really did come from the future. Something that didn't escape his notice was how she tried to hide her dislike of him. He had grown so accustomed to such looks from others, he picked up on them much easier then other people would "Wait here for a second" he told her. Getting up he went to his bedroom to retrieve the case holding Bah...er...Ragnadaim. When he returned, he opened the case to show her what was inside before closing it back up and handing it to her "here, in-case you need the extra firepower. I'd even bet that you know more about these swords then I do." While he was expendable, she wasn't. She was a princess, someone very important, and he had to make sure that she survived whatever was about to happen. "Also, I'm not sure why you seem to hate me so much...but whatever my future self did to you, I'm sorry about that." A chilling thought entered his mind; what if she was completely lying about her relationship with him? What if in the future she came from, he finally lost it and became the monster he was afraid he would be if he lived long enough? That would explain why her sibling got a hold of his father's sword; it was taken from his corpse. Maybe she was even planing on killing him after her job her was done.
