I'll reserve this place here before embarking on a wondrous day of work. EDIT: Major character change, sorry Brovo :p
Biographical Section Name: Erasmus Age: 34 Race: Human Sex: Male Appearance: A lithe and wiry man, he stands at a mere 5’8 putting him somewhat smaller than the majority of people he comes across. His skin tone is rather tanned, browned from a lifetime in the harsh elements of the world . His eyes are a dark grey colour, seeming lifeless at times due to the lack of anything bright or distinctive. The face is gaunt, seemingly drawn against the sharp features of his face; the protruding cheekbones, the hawklike nose, the thin ears and thin lips that are the same colour as his skin. His hair is kept very short, a close cropped sprawl of blonde hair is plastered across his skull. He is generally clad in a helm-less light grey leather armour, a black cape and a grey traveling cloak when traversing the land. Homeland: Kingdom of Rheinfeld History: Born into a moderately successful merchant family as a third son, Erasmus was always going to have little in the way in his life in terms of future prospects. His two elder brothers were always going to inherit the majority of their father’s money and demand his father’s attention whilst his younger sister would draw his mother’s. Nevertheless he was in a loving, close family that kept food on the table and clean beds to sleep on so he wasn’t going to have a rough life either. His early years consisted of playing with his family, competing with his older brother; whilst mainly losing and driving his younger sister crazy. It was a happy and peaceful life. There were childhood dreams of glory and heroics, the childhood games of might and magic but they were only that; the truth was they were merchant’s sons and they’d go on to become merchants. Yet Fate is an unpredictable mistress and she played her hand when a company of Templars rode through the town, hunting down heretics and burning them at the stake. It was then that the boy’s innate potential was noticed. Even at such a young age there was still a hint of nothingness around the boy’s aura; enough to cause the anti-mage of the group demand to find the source. When they worked out it was him, they offered what seemed to be the opportunity of a lifetime to the boy, a chance to become a Templar Knight and carve his own legend. Whilst his parents were uneasy with the decision, sending their little boy away at a young age seemed like a cruel and harsh thing; after all can anyone raise a child better than their own parents? In the end with much pleading from the boy and a very persuasive Templar captain, the boy rode away with the band of soldiers and onto a new future. When he arrived at the chapter house, the bustle of the soldiers and military might amazed the boy; this was the stuff that stories were made of yet here was living in it. He still managed to notice the way that seemingly everyone in the camp stared at him; everyone wanted to know just what this little irregularity was. He was soon shuffled on to an academy that was tailored to develop the anti-mage’s for the Templars, it had been worked out that in order to train the best anti-mages for the order, the younger they started the better they would be. They were trained to suppress and halt spells, how to manipulate the threads of magic so that they could protect the people around them and finally trained it melee combat; they were still expected to be able to fight as a Templar Knight. Whilst they’d never be normal knights nor in command of the patrols they still had a great potential within the order. By the time they had reached their sixteenth summer the cadets were sent out to various chapter houses and to fight in the name of their gods. Erasmus was sent to a frontier outpost, being one of the most capable cadets with much expected of him and a great deal of danger ahead. The vicious Crusades tempered him and taught him a great deal more than the academy ever did yet the flow of enemies never stopped. There was always more heretics, rogue mages and bandits to hunt and kill yet his specialty was always rogue mages. On more than one occasion they’d purged a castle of mages without taking a single casualty, using groups of anti-mages to suppress any chance of magic being thrown around. Once a chapter house settled down, he was sent off to another in grave danger, to fight a new set of enemies and all the while losing comrades and friends in the endless war. To any soul who didn’t enjoy the endless death, it began to take a toll; there was always innocents slaughtered by both sides and questionable battlefield executions. But it was the will of the gods. Then some twelve years ago it all changed for Erasmus; he became something more than just an anti-mage. Something changed within him when they fought a large battle near a Well of Power, being that close to a source of magic and actively trying to suppress the rampant magic, some sort of reaction occurred and he was drawn into the mysterious object, feeling as if he was falling for years before blacking out. When he woke up, he was in a bed in the Templar camp with his abilities mutated so far that even the anti-mages of the Order found themselves unable to cast their magic in his presence. He became an object of fascination; he spent less time on the front lines and more time at various academies, libraries and castles; discovering the full extent of his power and unsuccessfully trying to replicate it. He became a specialist soldier, used in only the most pressing occasions, they gave him a Silver and Onyx pendant of notable power, a relic of their order which would resist the effects of any magic which manage to pierce his own abilities. The next two years passed this way, being trained and studied like some laboratory experiment and vaery, very rarely getting out of the castle he was being 'accommodated' in. Then the unthinkable happened; the gods were banished, the Kingdom of Rheinfeld fell into civil war and suddenly the Templars needed every man they could get their hands on. Erasmus returned to the frontlines but it was different now; suddenly they were a godless people fighting their former comrades and friends. Their land was shattered by the conflict; the men moreso. The last shocking revelation was the callous disregard for anti-mages now; they were fighting a battle against enemies who spurned magic so what was the need for men capable of suppressing it? He very quickly tired of the servitude, the new Crusades and left to become a mercenary, he decided to travel the land; pay his way with his blade and skillset, to discover the world before retiring back to his merchant family with whom his career gold was banked with. After 8 years of endless traveling, the occasional fighting and a sizable amount of gold obtained from the exorbitant prices a good Anti-Mage could charge the rich folk of the world he was just about ready to return home until the word of demons returning to the world came to his ears and that childhood spirit within him stirred demanding adventure and glory. Motivation: To purge the unholy demons from the land, as a chance to settle the land and maybe even bring peace back to him homeland, all the while gathering glory and prestige for himself; maybe even have a tale told about him or an epic sung in remembrance of his glorious and everlasting deeds.
