... What would we even do in a reboot? That's a silly question, we'd do similar stuff only we don't lose 120 odd pages of work... It allows us to continue this but come up with some reason for the universe to have been hit by a massive crisis which shrunk every ones Empires down or something

Or maybe we could use the Borg to even everything out a little?
