But it can easily be less depending on how many sheets I get. - No other types of Imperial character besides Space Marines. The reason for this is that NPC roles are already figured out for these organizations, and are part of the plot. Sorry.
In Character Info:
Argyos Prime is a highly industrialized Hive World, though there are other worlds in the Sector, including Scorpio, a Death World, and Erinyes, the inhabitable moon of Fury Prime. Sector Governor of Argyos, Ariston Sotirios, takes control of entirely, using various means to have his opponents and colleagues in the Eccleistarchy and Arbites and other sector power structures removed and replaced with people that will rubber stamp his rule. Concerned, the Ordo Hereticus send inquisitor Antonia Theodoria on a preliminary investigation on Argyos; whatever she uncovered, she sent a call for reinforcement to meet with her at the planet Fury, whose moon, Erinyes, is habitable and plays host to the sector's only astropathic choir, renowned for sending messages stronger and faster than most. She is expected to deliver her report and take on her reinforcements from there. The nearest Sisters of Battle, the first choice of the Ordo Hereticus, are further away than a detachment of Dark Angels chapter Space Marines, en route to Scorpio on a recruitment mission, who agree to assist the Inquisitor in her investigation, sensing an opportunity to serve the Emperor and the Chapter. They set for Eriynes, where they would meet with the Inquisitor and be briefed. The 6th Squad, 3rd Battle Company of the Dark Angels Space Marine Chapter find themselves in orbit above Erinyes in the Gladius Frigate Repentance when it receives an urgent general broadcast for request from a beleaguered colonel of the Imperial Guard. Enemy? Unknown xenos. The Inquisitor? Dead on Argyos.
Out of Character Info:
This RP takes the Dark Angels, easily the most conspiratorial of the Space Marine chapters, into familiar, but also emotionally charged territory. The characters themselves do not know the details of their own history, merely that they are in penance for a great and ancient sin (though the Sergeant knows more...) The battle-brothers are eager, in the face of what seems to be heresy and treason, to start killing heretics and traitors. They have, of course, been prepared during all their service as Space Marines to loathe these things. That, of course, was done for a reason. There are Xenos attacking one of the Emperor's worlds. They are Space Marines, His wrath. It seems straightforward, but nothing ever is... The thing with plots is that it's generally easier if one creates the bad guy first -- I've created the antagonists, fleshed out their goals and set things into motion on their behalf. The characters, the Space Marines, will find out what's going on little by little, going deeper down the rabbit hole. So, in a sense, this isn't just about combat, but politics. The Dark Angels have a lot of political and historical baggage, a lot of intrigue on their plates, and felt like the perfect chapter to embroil in a multi-layered plot of different moving parts. That, of course, is also why I don't want people playing characters from other parts of the Imperium. The Dark Angels are on their own here, in a sense, that they can't trust anyone. Quite possibly, they can't even trust each other or their chapter.
