It hurts but in a weird kind of way. Since Asha is like the product of a lightbulb and Aya is the electric generator, she can convert a small amount of it into her her own UV radiation, but the rest of it is too untamed and differently coded. If takes in too much light bulb goes pop, but if she focuses on regulating it she can burn brighter. Still stings though, but with her body use to being physically abused she can control her emotional reaction to it well. 

That and she was bluffing for some of that talk, just to unleash some of her own frustration
