"Good for you, Belle!" Ascot shouted in response to the Thief's proclamation that she had manifested a Keyblade. Of course, there was little time for happiness, since they were in a combat situation. As Gula went into melee, Ascot took a split-second to observe her style, and then went into battle himself, relying on the much taller Belle - Girls hit their growth spurts earlier - to recieve the enemy's blows. He, himself, would try a sneaky thrust at said enemy's armpit, a thrust aided by Haste. If that failed, the boy would stomp on the woman's foot; yes, that was also dirty, but so was snatching Belle away, presumably to kill her. Note that all this while, Gula was still blinded, having forgotten to rip Morph out from her eyes. However, Ascot, not waiting for her to do so, cast Spark on Morph, causing the creature to surround itself with a ring of lights that would bring the pain directly to Gula's eyes. Of course, thanks to the powers of the Keyblade, it won't cause any permanent injury, not unless he willed it.
