Ambra strung another arrow, stretching out the bowstring and letting it fly at another Pegasus Knight. Yet, the beast cleanly dodged and, with a flutter of wings, came rushing at her. The winged horse was a blur to her vision; this was obviously an animal who was quicker and had more experience in dodging. Ambra hissed a prayer under her breath and attempted to dodge. The lance that had been coming at her chest had missed, but the pegasus’s hoof caught her on the head. She cried out and fell to the ground, her ears ringing and her head swimming. The red headed woman swore that she saw stars when she opened her eyes. The Pegasus Knight flew away, attacking a new enemy quite a ways off. She probably thought that the archer had been killed. It was surprising that she had lived. A kick to the side of the head often proved fatal. Thank Naga I’m still alive… she thought she said it out loud, but she didn’t feel her lips move. Ambra staggered to her feet and struggled to maintain balance. Her feet hitched and she fell to the floor again, coughing and groaning. She raised a hand to her head and felt blood pouring down the side of her face. Her heart fluttered in panic once she saw the warm life fluid on her hands. I’ll faint if I keep on bleeding like this. a body fell from the sky and came crashing through the overhang, slamming onto the warm sand. Ambra looked up to see who had done such a thing, but all she caught sight of a shadow flitting away in the sky. The archer ripped a cloth from the body and wrapped it around her head, hoping that it would stop the blood flow. Another enemy saw her weak body stumbling to its feet, this one a wyvern rider. The beast grunted and hissed, teeth gaping at her as it stared at her like a well cooked meal. The rider’s eyes flashed at her as he raised his axe and aimed to throw it at her throat. And then, just like that, the man was in the air, screaming. When she glanced up at the too-bright sky, she saw another wyvern, brown in color, with the man dangling in its claws. What the… she rubbed her head again, clutching her bow tightly. Too many things were happening at once. Had a rider committed treason and went against his own? The wyvern that remained sniffed and looked after his master, then looked back at her. It was obviously lost. ”It’s okay…” she wheezed out, patting the green lizard on the head. It simply blinked at her. Okay… what now? she asked herself, slumping to the floor and cradling her head. Pain ran through and over her skull, as if the hoof was slamming into her cranium again and again.
