Why not something fantasy and sci-fi crossed? I love that style

make it something like, a rebel society of varying aliens, is up against some galactic conqueror

and even though said rebel group was already at odds with the other inhabitants of the planet they are on

they have to learn to work together to fight back

...or you know

use an idea not made on the spot
