The majority of the people live in a somewhat destitute state albeit somewhat aided by the prevalence of a local rum manufacturing sector using the surplus of sugar cane to produce a rum so feral most people would pay not to drink it. The Carenthians take it as their one luxury in life and as the most gracious their leader would be; unless you joined the military at least. The armed forces are provided for in a way that should ensure their loyalty; as long as the wild parties thrown by His Most Esteemedship continues. Erasmus lives a life of wanton luxury parked up in the People's Palace; a monolithic building that outweighs every other building in the land having been built using tonnes of marble, concrete and luxurious woods. The presidential motorcade is a common sight throughout the island; as is the fleet of Presidential racecars.
