The light tingle shoots through his stomach again when Illiendi calls him master. 'I like that better. He's not talking down to me any more. I feel more willing to listen and do as I'm told when he's like this' Despite it being only a few words Amano's morale is boosted and he smiles for an instant as the demon turns his back to go talk to the man on deck. It only takes a few seconds for Amano to realize just how glad he is he sent Illiendi off to deal with the man. Even at a distance he can tell the man is foul smelling and far more gruff than Amano has the skill for at the moment. When at last he reached the captain’s side Amano watched with rapt attention. Despite the fact that he can not actually pick up on anything specific the young noble can almost feel the interaction taking place. The man's wild movements, Illiendi's calm demeanor. All of this speaks to him in ways no one really has ever understood when Amano tired to explain it to them. While his father never took the time to teach him about running the business, the young man is sure that he would not be at a complete loss should it fall to him all of a sudden. He can by no means copy the actions he sees in others, but he's learn to recognize little subtle things that every person gives away without knowing it. 'Illiendi has very few of these little tells. He does have one that expresses no doubt, and one that makes it obvious he is if not comfortable with what he is doing, he is at least able to deal with it without showing too much of his own intentions beyond what he wants know' His eyes shine a little like a girl spotting the man of her dreams. 'He's amazing!' Getting himself back under control as he watches them shake hands. Another thrill runs through him at the sound of Illiendi laughing and Amano prays he will hear that sound again some day. Amano listens intently to the demon, his eyes on the ground as he take in all the information. His head does not hang in shame as it so often has before, but instead in the deep concentration that has always aided in his retention of facts. However when the question of of marriage comes up Amano jumps slightly and brings his head up. If he didn't, he really would have started hanging his head for more shameful reasons. His cheeks flush and he motions that they should begin moving. Without waiting for the demon he begins walking, knowing that Illiendi will stay true to form no matter what. He's silent for several minutes but when he finally begins talking, it's in his usual soft voice. “Two years ago father told me he was going to begin looking, but that it may take a while, me being the youngest an all. He'd have to find an either a girl with a huge dowry or one who is set to take over her father's business and is just waiting for her to get married so there's a man in the house.” He smiles a bit sadly. “Father is very old fashioned, but I don't blame him. I've met grandfather, and that man. . . Grandmother had it rough, let's just leave it at that.” His face becomes neutral once more as he continues. “Anyways, that was two years ago, and he hasn't said anything to me directly, but apparently he has a couple prospects in mind for me that he likes to joke about with my brothers. They are the ones that told me. While they may have been lying, I've noticed a change in mother recently. She seems to want me home more. . .” He shrugs. “I really never wanted to think about it. I really don't care for such things.” He kicks a little stone, watching it bounce down the street before turning on to one of the main roads, forcing the two of them on to the sidewalk. “I know a lot of boy my age who are already years married with kids, and my elder brother is already married. My other brother's. . .” He shakes his head at the thought of how they keep score of how many town girls they've been with, even awarding more points if another brother has already done her first, or if she's visiting from out of town. The entire thing disgusts Amano. His blush darkens a bit. “So, no, he hasn't picked one for me yet, but he's thinking about a few, most likely. . .” With a light cough and a serious voice however he adds, “But even before you came I'd decided to never take such an offer. I know it's stupid, and I know love is a convenience, I was and still am more than willing to live my life alone should I never find love.” He manages not to let his head fall and after a few seconds he even regains his proud stride. Looking to Illiendi in pure curiosity, his cheeks no longer flushed he asks, “What about you Illiendi? Do you have a partner, or partners, I'm not sure how your society works, back where you come from?” He is honestly curious about where the demon comes from, a part of him hoping that everything he can learn about it may help him deal with his new pet demon.
