I mean, how many aircrafts are there typically in a real-life fighter squadron?
I think it depends on which air force it is, which kind of aircraft it is, and what they do. I'm not basing this on any research currently, but it stands to reason there'd be less aircraft in a heavy transport or bomber squadron than there might be in a fighter squadron. Also, fighter squadrons don't always deploy in their whole to a region of operations, from my understanding. And also, this is an unusual situation and circumstance, so the numbers and rules might not necessarily apply in the same way. I think the number we have is somewhere between a couple of flights of aircraft and a whole squadron. EDIT: First hit on google:
Squadron, a unit of aircraft that consists of three or four flights with a total of 12 to 24 aircraft, depending on the type of aircraft and the air force, naval or army air service.
