Emily wasn't afraid as she spun through a chaotic tunnel of energy and light because she was still alive and breathing. She knew that in crisis situations being alive was all that mattered. When then tunnel suddenly ended and Spat her out it was on dew soaked grass and a hillside. To limit her chances of injury she tucked and rolled till she'd slowed enough to stop herself and come into a ready stance in case she found herself still among hostiles. She did a quick assessment of her situation and found that she was injured her side arm lost in the explosion or her trip down the tunnel of light and that judging by the landscape and the buildings in the distance somewhere in Central Park's Sheep's Meadow. "I've always wanted to return to New York but this is a hell of a way to arrive" se says with a soft giggle Activating her comms she tries to raise SHIELD to arrange an Evac and inform Fury that her mission was only partly successful to only find static. She assumed that in the explosion that had injured her had screwed up her comms. "Well that bites she says as she seeks cover among some brush nearby Trained by Nick Fury to think on her feet she dose a quick inventory and finds she dry as far as weapons are concerned unless you count her shield which she considers more an extension of her body than a weapon which in retrospect is funny when measured against what she is. She sighs as she activates the panic button on her shield. Designed as a simple distress beacon and rugged the small unit begins it's scrambled chirp which uses a frequency only accessible by SHIELD, Tony Stark and her Uncle Steve's comms then sits and waits. (SHIELD Field Head Quarters New York) "Sir I have a strange signal coming from Central Park" alerts a comms officer to Agent Kimberly head of the New York Branch "What do you mean strange?" Asks the slightly balding but fit middle aged man chief of ops as he steps over to the station. "It's on our Freq. But it's not our code and the way it's pulsing I'd say it's a locator beacon just not one of ours" says the tech as she looks over her shoulder at her boss "Get me Hendrix and notify his team to load out and get ready for deployment" says the chief as his expression shows his curiosity and suspicion raised. In moments he's talking to Hendrix one of his best tactical leaders and giving him the parameters of his mission. "I want you to go and find out who's using my frequency and why. You are to stay covert unless you are engaged by hostile forces in which case you will contain until re-enforced or relieved." Says Agent Kimberly to his subordinate "Stay frosty out there Dave we don't know who's shaking our tree" he adds "Gotcha Boss, take it quiet, no bang unless we need it and bring the team back in one piece" says the flamboyant Agent Hendrix as he brushes his mop of red curly hair back with a smile Soon Hendrix and his team are dropping silently to the ground in a circular deployment from their cloaked VTOL They move in with the practiced silence of SHIELDs tactical teams towards the chirper and find something unexpected. Leaning against a tree is what looks like Captain America's shield, Hendrix sends an agent to investigate using hand signs and waits his report. (Emily Central Park) She watches as a darkly clad team that resembles a SHIELD Tactical squad infiltrated the meadow without a sound. Emily almost wants to rush forward and thank them for finally arriving but restrains herself as she waits their counter sign. They don't respond and in fact tense up as they ready for an attack which signals to Emily that something is wrong. As she watches she notes one agent making command signs and marks him as a possible leader then moves out to the fringe of the encirclement. She finds the out watch in position and alert but unfortunately for them not alert for an attack from between their lines. She is careful not to injure the agents badly in case this is just another example of her Uncle Fury's strange sense of humor and timing of her training. She leaves the agents bound with the zip ties they'd been carrying taking their weapons and a comm. She quickly finds cover in a defensive location and opens the comms channel saying "When the cat plays" then waits knowing that if she gets no response within five seconds she's in the wind Hendrix hears her on his team channel and sees that his outer watch has been most likely taken out for a stranger to be using the channel and their ID "Listen whoever you are you need to just remain calm an let's talk about this" he says trying to negotiate with what sounds like a very young woman Emily drops the comm and is on the move as soon as she fails to hear the all clear and finds a location that gives her good cover without being the choicest spot. Hendrix gets a report from the team he sent to check the out watch and quirks an eyebrow in curiosity when he hears that they're unconscious but otherwise unharmed. Who ever this is they aren't exactly a hostile but they're dam good to have taken out two of his without so much as a peep. The agent who went to investigate the shield having cleared it of traps brings the queer thing back. It looks like Cap's shield on closer inspection reveals it's self to be totally different in construction. Hendrix sits back an thinks about what he knows so far and none of it makes sense. He's got a shield that screams Captain America and has SHIELD tech built in but it's not there's. Someone out there in the dark just evaded a team of SHIELDs best with ease as well as took two of them out without a sound. They then asked for a call sign and after he failed to give one back showed the discipline of ceasing comms and have likely ditched the thing and assumed a defensive stance somewhere in the park. That's when he turns smiling as he looks at the shield. Like Cap's it is red, white and blue; a symbol of they wielder's dedication to this country and something they won't let go without a fight. "Well I got the bait now let's see if the dam thing is any good" he chuckles as he signals his team to move out of the area and not to worry about stealth as he has the VTOL land openly in the meadow an extract his team. Emily watches as the SHIELD team breaks protocol and climbs aboard their craft carrying the two she attacked earlier but not her shield. She knows something is up and looks all around herself with suspicion. She doesn't have long to wait before her unknown adversary displays his opening gambit by whistling Yankee doodle dandy. Moving carefully towards the sound Emily checks sky and terrain for any potential attack and finds none. She dose find however a man who begins singing the Battle hymn of the Republic with her Shield across his knees. He finishes by standing an marching dramatically back and fourth with her shield held before himself. He starts laughing and speaks turning in a circle saying "I know that by now you're out there listening so I'll just say this. We've obviously gotten off on the wrong foot and I'm sorry for all the confusion." He sets the shield down against a tree gently making sure it won't fall over. "I'm gonna leave your shield right here so you don't have to hurt no one to get it back. If you want to talk I'm also leaving my personal card so you can reach me" he says as he pulls a business card out and sets a rock on it "Since when did shield Tac leaders begin carrying business cards" asks Emily as she steps out of hiding taking a huge chance Hendrix turns with a smile and a ready quip on her lips only to bite it off when he sees her and the condition she's in She is dressed in armor similar to Caps older brighter suit but hers has blood seeping from a wound in her left rib cage's side and the rest is burnt and tattered. She can't be anymore than 17-18 years old yet even as wounded as she is he can't help but get that tingle of danger he's felt before in Cap's presence. "You look like hell girl and I don't see no war round here" he says with humor and concern Emily relying on her ability to read people gets no bad vibes from the man with the curly red hair and decides to chance trusting him. "I feel worse than I look, I've got some broken ribs and my but's sore from a real hard landing" she says with a grin as she steps up and picks up her shield and disables the distress beacon She let's Hendrix call an Evac for them and grows to trust the man a bit more when he insists she retain her shield as a medic aboard the SHIELD VTOL begins check her out. They are quickly aboard the USS Intrepid, The Fighting "I", one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy now a museum and hidden aboard it's enormous bulk a SHIELD hospital
