Abaddon's senses had alerted him to Lass's presence, and more importantly, his surprise attack. Moving swiftly, Abaddon made the shadow hammer miss its mark completely. In seconds, Abaddon was behind Lass with one sharp claw held right over his jugular. 

"First rule of thumb, never try to surprise me. It probably won't work first of all, and attacking me to show off is a pretty nice way of pissing me off and winding up in a hospital bed."

Removing his claw from over the crucial vein, Abaddon walked over in front of Lass.
