Remaining silent as he kept pace with Kensuke and the others, Hayate thought about what had been said. Though he found himself agreeing in part with Shisen's words, Hayate knew that now was not the time to try and argue with the jounin. Feeling ashamed still for failing his teammates, Hayate had hoped that his experience would have been more of a help. Instead, it had caused him to function the way he had grown used to, operating closely alongside his sensei. It had become a natural habit, and one that clearly had not worked during this mission.

Keeping his mouth closed, Hayate followed Kensuke back to the village. He would go to the hospital afterwards, in order to take care of the wound on his leg. It wasn't that serious, but Hayate did not want to risk leaving it for the sake of foolish pride.
