There was also the argument that the killer would most likely be a background player in post #1 and not immediately arouse suspicion. 

Then again, what about K-97 and his wealth of phobias? Afraid of the dark, dankness, spiders and muck. Mental health problems, perhaps? Like an episode of Criminal Minds, where the clinically insane kill to quiet their demons. ;)
