Raphael watched as the object of his interest entered the school with the rest of the arriving students, then finally he made his own way across the field and towards the school. He entered quietly, moving with great stealth, and he slipped through the door into the castle, fading into the shadow, his dark complexion making him once more completely invisible, except for his eyes, which shone out of the corner where he stood like pale fireflies. Since he was much closer now, anyone who saw him would see his eyes quite clearly and would be able to discern the same strange outline. He still watched the same canine woman, but now that he was closer he could smell another scent he recognized coming from her, along with the scent of canine. It was the faint odor of brimstone, and with that knowledge, her species clicked in his mind. She must be a hell hound! He'd heard of such dangerous and glorious creatures in his travels, but had never met one before. He'd been under the assumption that they either did not exist, or were so rare that it was unlikely he would ever meet one. Yet here she was, standing before him. He'd always admired the ruthlessness and power of the hell hounds in the stories he'd been told. As he watched her, her intelligent eyes darting around and taking in her surroundings, then asking after food, he couldn't help but grin, exposing his shining white canines. He doubted that she would find anything suitable to eat in this place. As far as he was concerned, the only food worth eating was what you could hunt yourself.
