[quote=Kaga] Basically it's about Simba's daughter, whose name I'm blanking on at the moment. She falls in love with a lion from an enemy pride named Kovu (who does bear a close resemblance to Scar), and, like Rax said, it's basically the Romeo and Juliet to the first movie's Hamlet. It's not a fantastic movie and it has some slower-moving segments, but I don't think it's terrible. As a kid I enjoyed it enough (probably because the love story didn't seem nearly as overdone at such an age, but still). I do still think the visuals are nice, and, in terms of plot, it's at least worth mentioning that they didn't take the easy way out and just re-tell the same story with the offspring of the original's main characters learning the same lesson as their parents - which is something of the Disney sequels were doing at the time. So, the fact that they came up with something (relatively) original, especially given the fact that the protagonist Simba/Nala's daughter, is nice to see. I dunno - I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't tear the movie apart as badly, probably because of how much I enjoyed it as a kid, but whatever. A lot of people say Kovu's resemblance to Scar was hammered in too much but I think it really fits the movie's tone of undue prejudice - Simba's pride hated Kovu for a lot of reasons that didn't make sense, and giving him a darker coloration and a scar across his eye just gave everyone another reason to feel weird around him, though it was also beyond his control.^ That's just my opinion on the movie, anyway.
