Renault grinned before reaching into his coat, pulling out a pre-cut cigar and lighter. He leaned back slightly, relaxing as he smoked. Watching the idle crowd slowly drift past him in either direction. He was immune. Above. Free. This new world suddenly thrust upon him was exactly the boost he needed. He looked around, the dull city seemed to shift around him, closing his eyes he breathed in deeply... and simply listened. Years of manipulating sound through music and magic had lead his ears become particularly attune to the world surrounding him, not superhuman exactly. But he could almost just catch the sound of magic hanging in the air, or the feeling of an area. Usually it was just a thread something that was barely discernible, or ran away from him quickly. Yet it had saved him a few times, and was an otherwise enjoyable experience. He continued to puff away as he watched the dreary peoples pass him by. He liked the bad parts of town, they had always held a bit more reality and presence than the oh so often plastic perfect of upper-scale neighborhoods. That isn't to say that he only resided in the bad parts, he had his own taste, understood class, and knew where the real money was. With a final puff he dropped the rest of the cigar to his feet, crushing out the remains before stepping away. Moving with the flow of traffic as he thought on what to do next. He had wracked up a sizable amount of money over the past few days. It was amazing the wonders that unchecked usage of magical music performed on unsuspecting ears. Already he had a decent amount hidden on him, as well as a few safe deposits and safe areas around the city. This however, had left Renault wondering what challenge to tackle next. With his income at a steady flow, and with a respectable nest egg hidden away, he was at a loss for what to pursue. Fame abhorred him, the thought of crowds of people knowing about him simply made him shudder. Despite occasionally expensive tastes he was perfectly fine with spending very little, and was more of a wanderer anyways. In this new, largely un-magical world, there wasn't likely anyone who could teach him new skills. The thought of becoming a respectable worker made him giggle, and forming a crime syndicate was far too much work. No, for now, he decided, Renault would simply go where the flow of sounds would take him. It's what he always had done and would continue to do. He grinned, thinking that, after all, something interesting always seemed to find him.
