She rubbed at her eyes; fatigue was washing over her in persistent tides. The bitter chill nipped at her skin and she sighed with relief as she turned onto her road. Jane was ready to get indoors and just go straight to bed. Sod the shower she craved, or the mounds of research that sat piled on her table. Jane wanted her bed. With everything she had been through in the past year or so, she was exhausted. So intent was she on finding a way to find Thor again, it almost dominated her time. Although, after the episode in New York, Jane felt somewhat burnt out on the situation with her and the Norse God. They had been on earth again, but she had been sent away to Norway. By the time Jane had made it to New York, he had gone. She spent the next few months desperately seeking him. But it was time to let it go. She was leaving for London next month; she had to focus on other things. Opening the door to the building, Jane walked up to her flat. But she stopped abruptly before the front door. “What…?” She whispered, her gloved hand reaching out for the door. It was open. Her fingers traced at the handle and lock, the door had been opened by force. “No way!” She groaned. She had been robbed? Pushing the door open, Jane walked in and dropped her bag on the floor. Whipping off her gloves she looked at the carnage that was her home. Her belongings were all over the place, it was like a whirlwind had torn through the place! Research papers all over, books upended and torn. Everything just ruined. Jane pushed a hand through her hair and she moved into the other rooms, just to see what damage she had to deal with. Entering her bedroom she sighed, leaning back on the door frame and closing her eyes. Why did it have to happen to her? Pushing herself forward and walking through the mess, stepping over torn pages and broken glass, she spotted something on the floor. It was a group picture, of her, Darcey and Erik. However, her image and been cut out of the photo. She stood up and sat on the edge of the bed, a little confused. Why would someone cut out her picture? A quick look around showed her that it wasn’t anywhere here. Someone had taken it with them! But before she could contemplate this further, she heard her name called out. The voice was thick and commanding, but given the circumstances all it did was unnerve her more. Jane launched herself to her bedside table and yanked open the drawer. Her hand circled around the pepper spray, and she pulled off the cap before edging herself against the wall. Had her intruder returned? Jane peeked through the gap in the door, her hear beating viciously against her chest. However, who she saw she had not expected. A confused look spread across her features, was it him? Jane had moved on, she had gotten closure. Yet here he stood, the man who could never remove himself from her mind. Her eyes looked down to the hammer in his hand, and she just couldn’t help it. Her shoulders dropped and she stepped out of the bedroom and looked to Thor. She offered him a sad smile, and in that moment, all those feelings she had locked away came back.
