Horra. That doesn't work so well with large files that then lose quality or with non square photos. Basically I'm just asking for the avatar system to be like it was before the shutdown.
....... Wait... What? Are you...REALLY? Seriously, you're trying to tell me that purpose built programs like GIMP and Photoshop, or single-use utilities are going to provide WORSE scaling than anything Mahz could implement with a forum? Secondly is, the link function I mentioned? Is to keep the same damn aspect ratio as the original image. You take the largest side, put "128" into the box. Hit okay, and holy shit! It keeps the image in the same proportions! Fast Image resizer is a tiny bit more complicated, using math skills you have to have learned by now: Take image you want to resize. Get pixel dimensions, then find aspect ratio (largest size divded by smallest size). Then take 128, and multiply it by the previous answer: Bam, there's your new width or height. Call me what you will, but I think it is mighty assholish to beg someone to implement something so goddamn easy to do yourself. Thirdly, the hell are you trying to use massive bloody images that lose that much quality when shrunk to 128x128, as an avatar for anyways?
