My interest is piqued. 

I do have some questions though: 
How many characters are each person allowed to have? 
Are they allowed whatever they might have brought with them? (Say if someone were driving through as a short cut to a town they were going to stay at a while - would they have all the stuff that was in their car? Or a person that was camping and ended up getting turned around and wandering into town - having the stuff they packed for their camping trip?)
Also how dark are you looking? Kidnapped and tortured when ransom wouldn't pay out? Psychotic mother that would physically injure the child as a form of punishment (i.e. told the kid to stop making a face repeatedly and decides shoving the kid's hand into a bowl of boiling hot water is a proper form of punishment)? Accidentally killed a sibling when they were kids? Rape? More examples that are on the tip of my tongue?
