So he essentially got a secondary mutation from their experiments, something they didn't intend for him to get, that wasn't a part of the DNA they gave him?

I've been wanting to make a Mutant Carrier (someone who isn't a mutant but can have mutant children). Something would happen that turned on the inactive mutant gene (adjusting this to the particular way the x-gene works) and he would get highly unstable powers. Maybe they would change, maybe their strength would fluctuate. Maybe I can use it as a secondary on something, or as my primary on a different RP.
