I think pointing it out in the OOC is pretty dignified. 
It is for the discussion of characters and abilities, no? It also allows future players to know their own limits by seeing what is allowed and what is not. If I see an ability that looks unfair I should have a right to say I think it is unfair and everyone can agree or just call me a whiner. If everything is handled in via PMs then we won't know our own limits when creating newish characters. Though I would also agree that if you aren't a mod it really isn't your place to do any critiquing in the first place. 

That's my opinion anyway.
