Toothless didn't miss the way she looked at his rider with eyes so full of affection that he was certain that Hiccup had done something to tickle her fancy. Something about him stirred a longing in her and Toothless was encouraged by that, even if Aurora's rider seemed to discard the thought after a moment. It was that same small spark that had betrayed Hiccup in his own heart when that viking girl- Astrid -drew away from him. First a flame that had soon grew into a fire. Hiccup had blazed with joy in her company, lively and warm but Toothless was certain that love was a cooled coal now. He'd noticed the rift gradually growing between them as Hiccup got swallowed by his new responsibilities and Astrid became more engaged with that stranger. It undoubtedly started out friendly enough with no intention of betrayal but now... Had she gotten the guts to tell him it was over to his face? Well, Hiccup had always been a smart human (smarter than the rest) so he assumed he already knew. Regardless- Toothless had a few stern words to say to that viking girl. But this one... she shared interests with his rider. Those markings on pages that came together to form pictures and a love for dragon kind (how could they not love them though? They were great). She was undoubtedly intelligent too, though maybe not in the same way as Hiccup.. He hoped he wouldn't be blinded to the possibility. He certainly desired better in this life. Toothless stood over the hatchlings ensuring their play time would not take a turn for the worse. It should be several cycles before they discovered their plasma but he scarcely remembered his own upbringing so he thought to be watchful. Their scales were still so soft and did not yet have the fire resistance of his own. Yes... careful. He looked over at the mention of the white hatchling looking to start a play session with Hiccup. It launched at him and when the small male connected with him it caused the fin to spring up out of Hiccup's back. The hatchling fell back in surprise, scrambling back a few paces before cautiously easing to the side to look at the fake fin. A barking laugh from Toothless started the hatchling again and it scrunched down, looking at his father with a face that encouraged him to stop. The nightfury clicked in comfort instead as Hiccup began winding the fin back down. "Typical show of viking affection." Hiccup mentioned at the way the hatchling wanted to keep headbutting him and cast Castiel a smile. "Everyone of us, hard headed."
