For over two centuries now humanity has waged near constant warfare upon itself. The wars between the Great Houses has cost millions of lives, entire worlds were forgotten and technology forever lost. Gone are those days of lost technology and instead a new age of advancement has begun. 37 years since the end of the Succession Wars and the resurgence of technology. 15 years since the end of the Clan invasion and a threat that had once unified the Inner Sphere is preparing to return once more. 1 year since the Allied Mercenary Command was formed due to fears of the growing power of the Word of Blake. Mere months since the end of the Federated Commonwealth Civil War which brought low the greatest single power in the Inner Sphere since the Star League. Throughout all this time some have stayed the same, despite losses of worlds and technology, despite apocalyptic wars, despite alien invaders cutting a bloody swathe across the realms of the Inner Sphere, and despite every attempt at peace the mercenary has been and always will be key on the battlefield so long as a lone battlemech still stands so will the mercenary.[/center] --- It is 3067, the Jihad is rising in the Inner Sphere, you are the commander of a mercenary group that you founded, forged, bought, or otherwise gained the head of. It is your job to lead the men and women under your command through the flames of war and into wealth. The story will be guided using high paying and high priority missions though there will be plenty of side jobs if you need to cool your heels for a bit. Standard maintenance costs will be about 5% of the unit's cost every month though things such as clan equipment especially without clan technicians, omnimechs, customized equipment, and experimental equipment will likely increase costs. Supplies such as ammunition and replacement parts can generally be purchased from an employer though this is not always the case such as if you are operating in the periphery and they will not have everything such as more advanced or rare components and prices for everything will fluctuate. Start with 25,000,000 C-bills. You can purchase pretty much anything you want though if you have something like Word of Blake technology I expect you to have a good reason in your history for how you got it. Amongst civilians he would be easily picked out though that has just as much to do with his demeanor and the way he carries himself with the easy swagger of a man controlling his own destiny and the general physique of a man who fights for his dinner. He has no problem with his general appearence and at times appears to try and cultivate it more figuring if he looks like a merc it is easier for him to market him and his crew fully as mercs who can be expected to act like mercs. He has dark tanned skin a natural result of his lifestyle as well coating his rather muscular frame. He has the slightest hint of almond shape to his eyes indicating in his ancestory he likely had a pure blood Capellan in his roots but most of his features appear more to favor Slavic in nature with a solid edge to his jawline and generally firm squarish features. His eyes are a dark brown and set a bit wide in his head beneath his short cropped light brown hair. It is the natural cut of most mechwarriors allowing him to comfortably wear his helmet. Overall he is not the prettiest belle at the ball or the strongest punch in a fight but he gets the job done. Background: Anton was born on Svantrata a world that is now of the Chaos March though at the time was one of many recently conquered by the Federated Suns. It , like many of it's neighbors was not particularly loyal to their conquerors and he grew up in a poorer district of the capitol city which was a hive of dissent and dissatisfaction with their new lords. Just as his nightmares were filled with stories Federated Suns soldiers and later Clan Warriors his childhood dreams were filled with becoming a mechwarrior and escaping from his planet to return one day as a great liberator or crushing the alien invaders. The Confederation was always looking for the able bodied within the Chaos March to serve their needs and being one of many dissatisfied young men he was easily recruited into one of their undergrounds with the promise of glory, wealth, and freedom. It was during Operation Guerrero he cut his teeth on combat and learned much about himself and others. With almost countless other small bands they rose up when they received word from their glorious leaders to do so. They attacked the Federated Suns garrisons using everything at their disposal and took painful losses in doing so. He learned in those four months that he was not a fanatic as the others were but he did learn that he was capable and that battlemechs were not the end answer to everything on the battlefield. He helped teach that to a few Federated Suns soldiers as well, stringing out lines for rappelling down buildings or crossing between them to surprise a mech from any direction and land a satchel charge on the head was one of the most daring but successful tactics they learned for the armor on the heads of mechs was always weakest. For four months they fought and died in the name of the Capellan Confederation. Eventually a small force of mercenaries showed up stating they were with the Capellan Confederation and worked with the rebel bands to finally push the remaining garrison forces off world. They eagerly awaited the representatives of the Capellan Confederation telling them of how they would be honored for their actions. There were countless rumors which abounded, word of them forming their own frontline unit having shown such skill, their loyalty resulting in the planet becoming a duchy or barony, that the Chancellor himself would visit every loyal world. No word came though, in time the mercenaries were preparing to leave, most of them having spent their pay and were ready to move on to the next contract. Anton was preparing to join them when his handler from the underground contacted him, he had been hand picked for his bravery and skill in battle to go to the Capellan Confederation and learn of warfare. That proved it to him, the planet had been abandoned by the Confederation and he was prepared to turn down the offer and tell his handler to shove it, but he could not afford to squander such a chance. Soon enough he was off his homeworld and on his way to the Capellan Confederation. The dropship he took most of the way was the same as the one being utilized by the mercenaries who came to finish the fight at his homeworld and so got to know them rather well on the trip. He found he disliked the Capellans from the Confederation proper less and less as he encountered more and more of them. When he got to Sian he was quickly rushed into an indoctrination process about the glories of the Confederation but one look at a map told him all about the glories he needed to know. For two years he lived at the academy and was at best a mediocre student overall. He was good in the sims when he got a chance and was in the upper portion of his class on strategies and tactics but was constantly berated for his military bearing, demeanor, and nearly ailed various other studies. He was chastised on more than one occasion for his uproarious carousing with various merenaries who came through such as McCarron's Armored. He one day even got in a drunken bet with one mercenary on who was the better pilot with the mercenary putting up a mech as his wager Anton put up streaking through the campus at the academy. They proceeded to break into the sim rooms and had their duel with the mercenaries comrades egging on both sides. Antone ended up winning the duel in the sims and the next morning the mercenary honored his debt and ended up giving Anton his own very damaged Locust. With his own mech now but nothing else going for him then managed to convince him to join up with them, his signing bonus being a bottle of 15 year old whiskey they ended up finishing off before the jumpship even left system. For a few years he traveled with them technically owning his own mech. After about four years he decided to head off on his own for awhile and see how things went. By that point he had gotten his hands on a well used Shadow Hawk and was taking decent solo jobs. His biggest payday came from escorting a historian who he passed off as a whackjob. The man claimed he knew where a Star League tertiary cache was but needed personnel for the expedition. The man's pay was not that good but Anton could not find much better work at the time as things seemed to have settled down as everyone prepared for the clan invasion and nobody wished to mess with the Federated Commonwealth. The job paid off in spades and Anton went from having a solid mech and a solid bank account to having a brand new heavy mech factory fresh if a few centuries old and a fat bank account he immediately set about emptying it. Then the Federated Commonwealth Civil War kicked off in good measure and Clan jade Falcon proceeded to launch their offensive and everyone wanted any mercenary they could get their hands on. While there was a surplus of contracts there was far from a surplus of mechs though this did not bother him too much as he new battle armor and tanks were still a fearsome force when properly utilized. Throughout the war he made some good calls and some bad ones but overall came out ahead. One of his best paydays was seizing a load of special autocannon ammunition types off a Federated Suns convoy. Then turn around and get a job from them capturing new suits of battle armor from the Draconis Combine and using the ammo he stole on his former employers. The irony of his life is always amusing to him and he makes a note to always let others know it is merely business, and ever since he left Capellan space business has been good.
