What was the significance of this egg? What could a witch of eternity such as Alice possibly find of use?

Before the departing Alice had activated the egg's effect, a grenade had eliminated the threat of the feeble robot, and so Alice decided to simply leave it inactive. 

"Robin, go get Dumpty. I don't want to have to make an extra one without reason." Alice stated blandly as she continued walking, Cock Robin making a mock salute with one wing, flying over and picking up the egg that lay on the ground near Genocider before returning to Alice.

Well that was an interesting waste of time.
