Connor walked up to the office, dropping the key into the after hours check out box, and then getting into the car. He started the car up, and started out the town, staying to side streets, just in case Marl was in town, and was looking for his car, looking for him. They were just on the outskirts of the town when his phone rang. He drove one handed as he answered the phone, already knowing it would be Marl. "I'm working a case, Marl" He said quickly, "I had no choice by to flee the hotel, and compromise myself. Something big is going on" Marl sighed, and it was clear he was trying to figure out how to reply. "Don't lie to me. If this was just a job, a few days, you wouldn't have checked Bessie into a stable. You have someone to look after her when your gone" Connor cursed silently. He let out an slow breath, "I didn't know how long this would be. I have to go, I'm watching a house, and I need to pay attention" He lied, and hung up, throwing the phone into the back seat in annoyance. He sighed, continuing to drive, hands gripping the wheel tight, and driving as fast as he could, glad there wasn't many other drivers on the road, as he focused on driving.
