He drove throughout the night, through two towns, before reaching a third two hours before the sun was to come up. He hesitated a moment, before deciding not to risk it, and found an inn, getting a room, but then he parked the car down a side street, knowing Marl would automatically check the inns for his car, and maybe it would go unnoticed in a side street. He climbed out the car, grabbing his things, shouldering his duffel bag and laptop. 

He looked about, wary of any danger. Wary of Marl. He crossed the road when Elizabeth was ready, and led the way to the inn, opening the door, he looked in, did his customary sweep, shutting the curtains for when the sun was up.
