I know that episode... (said the Hartnell fangirl). Did you start watching it knowing the episodes were organized into arcs that it makes more sense to watch all at once (like the Tom Baker episodes, and all the other Classic episodes for that matter)? In early Hartnell's era the episodes all had individual titles instead of "part 1", "part 2", etc but they still had the arc formula.

You wouldn't be the first person to turn an episode down if you got halfway through one without realizing it was part of a 4-part arc. :lol Admittedly a lot of the Classic episodes (especially in Harntell's era) start slow, but they get better. They make more sense to watch all in one sitting. 

Give me a day and I can probably list some of my favorite Classic episodes, though...
