Some of us are in much bigger debts than others, at least compared to our yearly balance, so it's potentially that plus some other economic factors.

The Ottomans and China, for example, are in some serious debt compared to their balance, whereas you could pay off yours fairly done. I don't imagine that's a coincidence.
