Name: Ethan Bradley Age: 17 Appearance: Ethan is fairly unassuming for the most part, being only of average height, 5' 8" and not exactly physically imposing. His eyes are a light blue which sit behind a thin set of glasses, and medium length white hair whose bangs cover his ears, run to the middle of the back of his neck, and a few hang just between his eyes. He's not exactly pale, and certainly not tanned, just slightly showing that he's been outside. In most any case he can be found wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt which he keeps unzipped, a plain white shirt, a set of well worn jeans and an equally used set of hiking shoes. His Mark of Arceus is on his neck, just by his left shoulder blade and typically covered up by his sweatshirt. What he makes up for in lack of raw strength is his raw mental prowess. He's highly intelligent and quick to come up with a solution, and knows plenty of ways around each task. He's confident in his own abilities, knowing where they lie and how best to use them, perhaps confident to the point of arrogance. While he can be pleasant around others he doesn't typically care for them, doing what he must to avoid bothersome scrutiny. If his motivation is anything it's this; Learn how everything works. He enjoys witnessing and examining battles, curious to see how Pokemon can withstand, or sometimes not withstand thinks like Poison, Burns, Paralysis, things dubbed as "Status effects" by professionals. He is often more interested in details rather than the overall picture, and in particular details which only he cares about. In lieu of having a few undesirable traits Ethan isn't without heart. He will attack any Pokemon simply to see what happens, and couldn't care much for other trainers' either. His own however he takes good care of, and they adore him in spite of coming across as dismissive or uncaring to others. Conversely, his more logical, straight-thinking self can sometimes have trouble empathizing with others, and he often tries to avoid high-emotion situations since he feels awkward and uncertain during those. He feels at his best when coming up with strategies for the group, talking about topics he's well informed on and when research pans out. He's at his worst when put on the spot via emotional cues. Hobbies include researching, exploring and developing natural medicines. He strongly dislikes people who can't stand up for themselves. Special Abilities / Traits/ Attributes: Ethan is potentially the most intelligent Guardian, if not close to it. His mind is keen in terms of formulating strategy, and he is exceptionally good at winning battles against tougher opponents through tactics alone. His "Debater" trait makes him an excellent orator, and he is fairly adept at swaying the opinions of others to suit his needs, for better or worse. History: Ethan grew up in Fuchsia City, surrounded by old and new alike. The life of a ninja inside the gym and the ever growing technology around him had Ethan rather confused as he grew up, not certain which side to embrace. He loved the traditional style of Koga, and later Janine with how they conducted themselves, and yet was equally fascinated by his father's work as a Pokemon researcher. Since becoming a trainer in the gym was no available to the young boy he continued school as was required, learning what he could from his father in the meantime about Pokemon. Many encounters with his father ultimately led to his acquiring Ralts, his first and oldest Pokemon partner, at the young age of 7. From there he forgot his intrigue in the gym for a time, focusing solely on Pokemon. As a rather intelligent child Ethan had an easy time in school, often passing with high marks and earning the favor of the teachers. Obviously this didn't make him a favorite among peers, who often labelled him the teacher's pet and scolded him for making them look bad. It's no surprise then he became a bit anti-social, focusing on his studies and his time with Ralts, nothing else. His instruction with his father continued as well, and through that he learned quite a lot about Pokemon in general. His interest in that regard was enough to spur him to research on his own, which lead to him being a veritable Pokemon expert at only 12 years of age. Not content to simply be done with learning however he began to look into his mother's passion as well; Healing Pokemon. Only in the beginning of his training as a healer did Ethan find his life changing quite drastically. It was during a regular medical check-up that a doctor found his Mark of Arceus, and he was instantly labelled as a Guardian that very day. Hardly understanding the gravity of his new life. For a very short period he continued his own work until a visitor came to his home, an older gentleman with news of the boy's impending journey. In the midst of his medical training Ethan was spurred away to Faraway Island, set to begin training as a Guardian against his wishes. Even there he continued his medical practice, wanting to be able to hold a candle to his mother's expertise. Faraway Island was a real eye-opener for the boy, in the sense he was forced to accept he wasn't that powerful of a trainer. His Pokemon were above average, but not quite cut out for most tasks, he had to find a way to remedy that. Recalling his lifelong curiosity with ninja he deliberated for a time and eventually came up with a means of battling that suited his strengths. By focusing on a team that could debilitate and disable stronger opponents he was able to take on greater foes, and in that his party grew. Now, he doesn't rely on strength to win battles, but rather roundabout, sometimes unorthodox methods. From this innate knowledge of how to render foes helpless Ethan has developed a... Questionable interest in what others can endure. He can most often be found wandering through the forests, battling Pokemon simply for the chance to watch them endure his Pokemon's own attacks. He's had it since it was a Ralts and has trained it diligently, more so than any of his other Pokemon. Only recently has it evolved into a Gallade, and the chemistry still remains between the two. They can speak without seeming to speak and Gallade is fiercely loyal to his trainer. The powerhouse of the team, Athos is the only one without a direct attack for status effects. Having a bit of a mischievous streak it's not uncommon for Ethan to not use this Pokemon, and as such its rarely seen. In the two times he used it recently he had to withdraw it prematurely as Madao would have surely killed the Pokemon he was battling before he could examine them. He got Madao from the forests of Faraway Island and is still trying to reel in its temperament. Ethan doesn't use Terra as extensively as Athos, but the two have seen their fair share of battles. Whereas Athos didn't reach his Gallade form until Faraway Island Ethan had obtained his Glaceon a few months prior before leaving Fuchsia City. While Anima has been rather warm to her new trainer he unfortunately sees her as a utility above all else, and typically makes use of her to either travel or fetch something. Nonetheless Anima is all to happy to help Ethan, often being rather affectionate towards her owner. In the last few months that relationship has changed slightly as Anima successfully protected the boy from a wild Mightyena, earning a fair bit more respect for her. If not with Athos, Anima is usually the one walking with him, cheerfully gliding about. Ever since catching him Gigas has been incredibly curious, apparently never having spent much time around civilization himself. To that end Ethan tends to release Gigas whenever they encounter something new, allowing the Luxio to wander aimlessly and explore of its own volition. More than once he's gotten into a bit of trouble for that, having to pull Gigas out of kitchens and homes when he became too curious for his own good. Not one to stifle curiosity Ethan still allows his Pokemon to do as it pleases, enjoying the results more often than not. Moveset: Thunder Fang Discharge Thunder Wave Bite Agility Scary Face
