Hmm..well, it seems as long as he/she is attuned to the Chasm of Light, that could probably provide the type of magic you're thinking of. There's no limit to what a Mage's focus can be, it just had to be the single item that they took into the Chasm with them when they underwent Archtonement (Which involves physically stepping into the Chasm [by opening a portal] and then sacrificing the body part of your choosing)- so it could be a sword, shield, or even a piece of armor, if you really wanted to. 

As for gods, I hadn't mentioned it in the first post (But probably should have and will go back and do so now), but there are forms of rudimentary religion re-forming since after the Worldbane. They aren't as complex as the World Before (so far) and are quite Roman-cult like, but they're based on the aforementioned figures in the windows in the Chasm of Light, meaning that leaders of the "churches" are usually attuned to the Chasm.
