I do have an opposing view. In a case like this (not this one), I don't think it would be that bad to change things up in order to accommodate new ideas that oppose older, unimplemented ones. I believe that finding a way to include more things via retcon is even more work than dancing around established history, where little lines can cause massive problems later on.

That's not me saying that we should retcon right now. I don't find it necessary. But that is just my two cents in general.
