Lilith couldn't help but smile at the compliment, whether it was genuine or not. She knew she was unique; she reveled in it. It only pleased her more to know that not just anyone could do the things Aleks was asking of her. The way she saw it, he needed her and the thought practically made her purr. Not surprisingly, however, the sentiment didn't last. While her companion carefully tended to his tea, the fox spirit was left with little else to do but watch him. She had already asked him a question so there wasn't much she could say and there wasn't much tea left in her cup so she didn't want to down it all while waiting for him. Eventually, she let out a discontented sigh as she side glanced at the clock on the wall. I asked you a question, you prick. Or did you forget because some old hag tried to charm you? You really are as dumb as you look, aren't you? Suddenly, she saw the glint in Aleks’ eye and she knew. As usual, the young man was teasing her. He wasn't stupid at all. He was doing this precisely to annoy her and she had just walked right into his trap. She tightened her jaw to hold back a growl and took a sip of her tea instead. Insufferable bastard… I’ll put you back in your place once we’re alone. You can’t just mock me like this. She felt her gaze narrowing as she glared at him over her cup and she immediately corrected it. Thankfully, he responded soon after. Going along with the act, Lilith acted delighted at the sound of a surprise, “A surprise, Aleks? You know you didn't have to do that for me.” Leaning forward a bit as If eager, she was about to ask if she were getting the surprise tonight when he asked about the briefcase. Sitting back, she pouted and for a moment, she wondered if she had been mistaken about what he had told her to do with it. Quickly, she tried to think of a coded reply that was as close to the truth as possible. It made the lie so much easier to keep track of. “Oh I..” She paused for a moment, looking down as if embarrassed, her hands pulled close in her lap. “I wasn't sure when I was going to see you next. I left it with… Oh I don’t remember his name, one of your friends that ate with us. The big guy?” She stopped for a moment as if waiting for him to provide the name, but continued before Aleks could say anything, “Anyway, he thought he might see you sooner than I would so he offered to get it to you. I guess he still has it… Is that okay?” She looked at him sheepishly through her lashes, keeping up the façade but also genuinely asking Aleks if she had made a mistake. Almost imperceptibly, the gray haired woman stirred in her seat. Her warm brown eyes were glued to the couple, completely enthralled. It was like a soap opera unfolding before her very eyes. The mysterious woman from out of town, the handsome bachelor, the forgotten briefcase. What was in said briefcase? Was it left in the hands of a reliable man? Was the handsome young man going to be angry? She half expected another man to bust in and try to steal the raven haired woman away, making claims of abuse. Oh just the thought made her giddy. There was rarely any excitement in her hotel and this rendezvous seemed like just the event to change that. Resting her chin on her palms, she waited to see what happened next.
