Yup, it's where the Dwarves are. A Dwarf named Dane Lionbeard declared to all he was in distress, and through one way or another, your character heard about it. Underdeep is a city filled primarily with Dwarves, though it does pertain it's fair share of other races, especially miners.

Yup yup, fine by me. The Gods I mentioned above are only the most popular and widely known, so if you wanted to make an entirely new deity or a variant thereof, go for it. If they have a picture on one of the mosaics in the Chasm of Light be sure to describe that too, since that will probably double as its "insignia".
