Many mutants have benign mutations that have little or no effect to the main theme of the character. What is the point of Nightcrawler's fur?

As for the Transformers, suspension of disbelief is a big thing for me. The movie was an insult to writers and role players everywhere. Let's say that I prefer a reality that makes sense. How am I supposed to prognosticate on further installments? How am I supposed to even know what's going on? I spent the entire movie in a confused daze. Now I just need closure.

First: All the autobots are psychotic and attempt to kill one another... but what the hey... It's not like they're the actual autobots or anything. I mean, that would just be silly; using the actual transformers from the toy lines. Nah.

Optimus: "That transformer.. it's Lockdown! I don't know who these aliens masters are that he serves but I know him... and apparently I betrayed his masters personally enough that they sent him after me but forget all that. Look, it doesn't have to make sense. Just start shooting."

Heck there are people are shopping downtown while there's a giant alien starship overhead... when one just a few years before nearly leveled the entire city. Personally, I'd have been running from the hills, not looking up, pointing and saying, "Hey, maybe this time they're friendly. You know what. I need a new pair of pants. Time to hit the GAP. Wait... look, there are flying robots shooting up the city.... Now I really need those pants. They might blow up the store before I finish the transaction."

Then there's the autobots driving from Shanghai to Hong Kong in about a minute flat. Think about it? It's a six hour flight. There's also an OCEAN involved. What the hell? Did they somehow all develop rocket boots and fly there? Did they transform into hovercraft? Wait, if they could all fly... why bother with all that sliding down the sides of buildings thing?

About half way through I just stopped trying to understand what was going on. I just couldn't stop laughing at the stupidity. It was clear that nobody on the writing staff gave a crap so why should I.

Edit: My mistake. It was Beijing. I rather assumed it was Shanghai since it was so much closer to Hong Kong. Beijing is even more ridiculous.
