The man that had burst towards the front of the line and was impatiently tapping on a large bill looked like he was late for some really important meeting, Lauren thought. She filled a glass of water and quickly made the sandwich. She gave him his change and set the items he was asking for in front of him. "Here you go, sir." She noticed Dale had brought out the order of a blonde girl who looked overjoyed after eating a bit of the cake. Something on Dale's face didn't look particularly pleased by it. Maybe it was the fact that so many people had come into the cafe right as it opened. He had been sweeping the floor before they opened, and she thought she could hear him talking to himself before she went into the storeroom to check the inventory. They didn't talk to each other that much outside of work, but she guessed that today was going to be one of those days for him.
