Basically for SE, Maka killed Asura 25 years ago. As for BE, I recommend reading the manga. Yes, this will be more anime-ish (character appearance, backstories, etc.) but its tone will be more like the manga. For example, manga Satan is the very incarnation of evil, but anime Satan is misunderstood. This Satan will be the former.
