The most I've made on a piece was almost $500. It was a private commission of someone's family. (Portraiture.) There were several people in it and it took a fair amount of time to do, so it was definitely up there cost-wise.

I just always liked the soft lighting. 
(That was also a pro bono piece for another fundraiser event. They had a raffle and getting a custom commission from me was first prize.)
