They won't come because they have no proof. Why would they want to defeat some random enemy that doesn't seem to hold any water with "elements" that won't work? 2. Their villages are one of the catalysts for their realisation. The spirits are there to hinder their realisation, and, thanks to logical narrative causality (of which there is no way out), they have to be in the village when the realisation happens in order for the spirits to be dispelled. Although, I can have it that assassins arrive at the most inopportune times, to distract some of the bearers-to-be at the point of their crucial decision.
