Name: Ember Age: 24 Gender: Female Race: Altean - a race nearly identical to humans, except quite a bit taller, stronger, faster and capable of manipulating the Arcana energies - magic. Alteans have a slightly higher lifespan than a human, though their reproduction is far slower. Anatomically, they are identical to humans, except bigger. Appearance: Years aboard Precipice: 3 Apocalyptic Scenario: A magical plague, devouring the land of all life. Unlike any other plague, it devours soil of everything, including latent Arcana energies. A direct side-effect of a terrible war, a mutation of a collision of two extremely powerful spells. From space, it seems as if everything is covered in black, glimmering mass, encroaching on the few green patches that are left. Starvation, mass extinction of all flora and fauna, the works. Abilities: Arcana mastery - A natural skill to all Alteans, their bodies are able to absorb and process the latent energy of Arcana that is pretty much everywhere, yet undetectable to almost everyone but it's users and some extremely advanced sensors. Others know it as Dark Matter. The processed Arcana can be shaped into nearly everything, with sufficient skill and amount, such as restoration, teleportation, fireballs, enchantments. Skills: Sword Mastery - Years spent fighting for her life, Ember has grown to be an excellent swords(wo)man. Arcane Theory - Time spent aboard the Precipice gave her ample of time to study the very theory of magic itself, with the goal of understanding the enchantments on her sword, and ways to replicate it. Though she has learned a lot, able to improve a lot of things with magic, she's not quite there yet. Short Bio: Altea was a world in it's middle ages, albeit with lot's of magic involved. Ember was born an orphan right after the conclusion of a terrible civil war, which has left an entire nation a wasteland due to a terrible explosion. The explosion was caused by a clash of two extremely powerful spells. Life was hard, as various bandits multiplied in numbers after that catastrophe, as well as all the remaining nations were in a disarray when the dominating superpower just suddenly disappeared from the map. Eventually, Ember has found a rather unique swords in the ruins of the former empire. When she was forced to use it for self-defense hours later, she found out it was no ordinary sword. It could cut through nearly anything, and with each strike, it siphoned the blood of it's victims, storing it somewhere in itself. It would use that life energy to heal Ember if needed, or unleashing power special attacks, as she later learned. Without a doubt, it was one of the legendary weapons of the dead empire, wielded by their generals themselves. Soon after, some sort of mutation happened to the residual energies left behind the explosion, so it began to drain all life (and magic) from anything nearby. It drained the soil of everything, leaving the flora to wither and die. It started spreading, ever so slowly, collapsing eco-systems in it's wake. For the 2nd half of her life, Ember, and quite a few others fought and tried everything to stop the spread of this Withering plague... Personality: Ember is reserved, cold and "straight to the point" type of personality. She ignores everyone that has nothing useful to say or do, hates small talk and as far as anyone knows, she has never laughed or smiled. Though she becomes more open to those close to her, like her colleagues, she tries to display as little emotion as possible. Ember harbors a grudge against John Pastor, thinking that he plucked her out of Altea when she could still save her world. Nevertheless, she supports his cause, and tries to help the crew as much as her expertise allows. In any situations where hostilities are a possibility, Ember refuses to use anything else but her sword, Serilya. Role: Head of the Magic Research
I'm not sure in what position to put her. Research Chief would kinda fit, but she would be only interested in the magic side, not technology one. Maybe security chief? That's why her years aboard are still WIP.
