My new-found power of flight was amazing. Of course, the view, given that we now lived in a wasteland... wasn't. From my new vantage point, I could see all sorts of things, most of them, I assumed were either new breeds of megafauna, or were mutants just like myself. One creature in particular caught my attention for a little while. It was a strange little blue feline creature with a diamond on its head, and light blue, feathery wings. There was a human running away from the thing, as if it was harming him, but... the thing wasn't chasing after the man, and seemed equally surprised at the man's reaction. I continued on and eventually found a small community. There wasn't really much to see here, just a few tents and a lot of dead bodies... that can't be good. I guess these people weren't as lucky as I was. I simply think as I look around for any living humans... or, heck, even mutants that were still alive would be nice. Megafauna that was alive, on the other hand... yeah... not too happy about that possibility. I wander around the place, having finally landed on he tough, dry ground, and realize something... I felt much more vulnerable down here. A little more cautious, I head into one of the makeshift buildings, and see nothing more than all of someone's worldly belongings, which consisted of two dollars, and a pack of matches, neither of which I really needed, and... a dead woman. She had brown hair, that appeared somewhat straight, but appeared untouched... as if something killed her without attacking her... perhaps this was a result of the same solar flare that made me what I was, now. Either way, I couldn't really see her face, given that she was lying face down on the floor, though, she did seem rather tall... or I could just be somewhat small, now. I really had no point of reference that might allow me to figure out my own height in this wasteland, unfortunately. A few things were different from the camp that I came from... first of all, the building itself appeared to be made of scraps, rather than the tents that we had. It was somewhat smaller than the tent that I came from, and instead of cloth on the ground, it was just the same dirt that covered the rest of the wateland, which was starting to feel a little uncomfortable. Out of curiosity, I touch the dead body with my left talon, and, much to my surprise, a lightning bolt discharges itself from my talon, and into the body, creating a zap sound, and actually cooking the body where the lightning bolt landed. I couldn't help but shout in surprise at my own ability... I mean, how did I do that? Did I even do that, or was that just a residual charge from the body, itself? It didn't hurt, so, perhaps I did make that happen... looking closely at my claws, I noticed their coppery color... they couldn't possibly be MADE of the stuff, could they? Even if they were, what sort of purpose would that serve? Well... copper's a pretty dang amazing conductor of electricity... even then, I'd need some sort of source of the stuff. Heh, maybe I'm a lightning mage now, or something. I think, holding in my own laughter after that thought. Lightning magic... or really any magic in this world. I was into video games, but I wasn't stupid.
